The horizontal centrifugal casting method’s brief introduction

Centrifugal casting is the ideal method to produce cylindrical shape by introducing molten metal into high speed spinning metal mold in which molten metal will solidify into cylindrical shape under high pressure due to centrifugal force from the rotation.

Generally centrifugal casting includes horizontal centrifugal casting method and vertical centrifugal casting method.The horizontal centrifugal casting method is mainly used to produce the thin-walled products whose diameter is less than the length.Now most of horizontal centrifugal casting manufacturers use the roller-type centrifugal casting machines to produce the following castings:ductile iron pipes,reformer tubes,centrifugally cast tubes,furnace rolls,centrifuged rolls,roller shells,sleeves,etc.

Advantages of centrifugal casting:

Directional solidification,starting from the outer face in contact with the metal mold,realizes a sound cast metal quality,free of cavity and inclusions. The centrifugal force produces a hollow cylindrical products with no wall thickness variations. Another advantage of the horizontal centrifugal casting method is that residual stress after casting is minimized because there is nothing to disturb solidification shrinkage.

Apart from this, centrifugal casting method has other advantages such as more short production time and more lower production cost,high-performance surface,high-quality micro structure,etc.
